Crossroads and 8 Seasons

The Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, led by Mindaugas Bačkus, invites you to experience a program where different eras, musical languages, and creative perspectives come together. At the heart of the evening lie themes of transformation, cyclicality, and continuous renewal, revealed through the distinct character of contemporary Lithuanian music, the aesthetics of reinterpretation, and the musical logic of the Baroque era.

In Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė’s remarkable work “Kryžkelės apeigos”, the solo cello part will be performed by Mindaugas Bačkus. This music invites you into a symbolic space of boundaries and choice, where ritualistic elements intertwine with contemporary sonic imagination, and a tense dramaturgy unfolds through subtle timbral colors.

A unique perspective on classical heritage is offered in Max Richter’s “The Four Seasons”, where familiar Baroque material is transformed into a meditative, hypnotic, and emotionally nuanced contemporary narrative. The solo part will be performed by Tomas Cinelis (violin), revealing the inner tension and fragile beauty of the work.

The original archetype of the annual cycle will be embodied in Antonio Vivaldi’s legendary “The Four Seasons”, where the forces of nature, the changing seasons, and the human relationship with the environment are expressed through vivid musical language. The solo violin part will be performed by Julija Anderson, bringing out the virtuosity and emotional brilliance of this masterpiece.

This concert program reveals how the same idea of the seasons and life cycles can be experienced across different eras—from ritual reflection and contemporary introspection to Baroque expression. It is an evening where music becomes a dialogue between past and present, tradition and a new perspective.
