"AMERICA IN THE BATHHOUSE", musical comedy (Point Theatre, dir. V.Masalskis) in Lithuanian
Event information
"America in the bathhouse" is the first one-act play performed in Lithuanian in Lithuanian, based on the play of the same name by Keturakis, which after almost 125 years has been adapted for modern theater and turned into a musical comedy for the audience! The audience is invited to search for the historical and contemporary identity of Lithuanians with the musical interludes of the composer Kristupas Biržietis. The comedy wittily presents the formation of Lithuanian national self-awareness and the deep spirit of patriotism, the origins of which are often hidden in the countryside, but in the truest province. The author of scenography, Renata Valčik, skillfully creates the atmosphere of such a province in the performance - the scenery is created from used car tires, which stand for furniture, accessories and other household items. And the swans, ingeniously twisted out of tires and painted in bright colors, are the truest evidence of the province's artistic tastelessness, disarming even the biggest skeptics. There are also plenty of other painfully recognizable signs of the modern Lithuanian countryside that will make many people smile.
