About performer
The world of this work is created by a broad team of artists and communities. The theatrical action is shaped by the theatre group of the Klaipėda Faculties of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, led by director Valentinas Masalskis, while the experiences and stories of the Klaipėdos lakštutė community centre for people with disabilities become an essential part of the piece. The intraOpera’s stage environment is enriched by set design and costumes by Danas and Vilma Aleksai, video projections by Gintaras Šeputis, musicians, and unconventional sound objects.
Inspired by surgeon and writer Gasparas Aleksa’s novel The Lamb with Glass Horns, the intraOpera invites the audience on a symbolic journey inside the human body. Different spaces become a map of the organism, revealing its physical, emotional, cognitive, and social layers. In this work, the body becomes a source of music: the heartbeat transforms into a score, while sounds from medical equipment merge with instruments, voices, movement, and video projections. The audience is not merely an observer but a participant in a journey that reveals sound as a living human organism.
Within the intraOpera, even the processes of the human body become musical material — a cardiogram becomes a musical score, while the rhythms of the heart and the sounds of the body merge into a sonic fabric created by instruments, voices, and medical equipment.
Body Sound invites listeners to hear what usually remains unseen — the inner vibrations of the human body, personal stories held within it, and its continuous capacity for transformation.
