Twenty Fingers Duo ø MUSIC AUTUMN 2026

On October 2 at 7 PM, the contemporary Lithuanian music festival MUSIC AUTUMN invites to the Energy and Technology Museum for a concert by Twenty Fingers Duo, marking their ten years anniversary.

Marking a new creative chapter for Lora Kmieliauskaitė and Arnas Kmieliauskas, the programme features four premieres commissioned especially for the occasion – new works by Mantautas Krukauskas, Dainora Aleksaitė, Lukas Butkus and Gintė Preisaitė.

Two musicians, two instruments and four different attempts to disrupt the familiar sound world of violin and cello – through technology, artificial intelligence, electronics, voice, noise, pop culture and memory.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

After a decade of creating together, Lora Kmieliauskaitė and Arnas Kmieliauskas approach the violin and cello not as a fixed and familiar instrumental pairing, but as an ever-changing creative territory.

For their new programme, Twenty Fingers Duo invited four contemporary and experimental music composers to search together for what they themselves have yet to discover: unconventional sounds, new relationships between acoustic and electronic worlds, unexpected situations on stage and unexplored modes of performance.

Each composer takes the combined sound world of violin and cello in a different direction.

In Mantautas Krukauskas’ work, the acoustic instruments encounter AI-generated reflections of themselves. Dainora Aleksaitė explores the sounds of everyday life and the point at which noise might become music. Lukas Butkus brings the absurdities of pop culture into the realm of contemporary music, while Gintė Preisaitė moves between acoustic and electronic sound, recordings, memory and layers of field recordings.
