TARTIT (Mali) concert | Vilnius

On 24 June, 8 pm, we invite you to another exceptional concert of authentic music from distant lands - the band TARTIT from Mali will perform at the Kirtimai Culture Center! TARTIT is one of the leaders of the Tuareg music scene and one of the only groups consisting mainly of women. In this concert, there will be four of them, accompanied by two guitarists.

🔵 TARTIT from Timbuktu was formed in exile between the Mauritanian and Burkinabe refugee camps in 1995. All its members are from the Timbuktu region, specifically the cercle of Goundam. The group has a single aim: to sing about exile, love, peace and the political condition of the Tuareg people, also to safeguard traditional Tuareg music, which is slowly disappearing.

🔵 TARTIT‘S concerts are an invitation to travel to the desert. Hypnotic music inevitably leads the listeners into the mystical world of the Kel Tamasheq (people who speak Tamasheq, the language of the Tuareg). The magic of the performance is enhanced by the beauty of the traditional dresses and authentic instruments. The songs are created from traditional and modern melodies.

🔵 The band will be presenting their latest album, Amankor / The Exile, as well as more traditional songs from their rich repertoire. Women's voices, youyou, clapping and dancing, TARTIT will take you to an unforgettable journey.
