The year 2025 has become the Year of Čiurlionis in Lithuania, with the music of M. K. Čiurlionis sounding in every possible color and variation, including jazz interpretations. At the same time, across Europe, the transformation of classical music into jazz has become increasingly popular.
We invite you to listen to true experts in this field. The Stark / Linnemann Trio has performed countless concerts, tastefully and imaginatively transforming the music of Liszt, Chopin, Mussorgsky, and Beethoven into jazz works.
Stark / Linnemann Trio will perform music from their album Transcending Liszt and more. This exceptional project reimagines the works of Franz Liszt, presenting them through fresh, modern interpretations. Each composition is thoughtfully transformed using contemporary harmonies and rhythmic grooves, while preserving the essence of Liszt’s music. Expect bold improvisations and a dynamic live performance in which classical tradition merges with modern jazz—and beyond.
For example, the Hungarian Rhapsody takes on a vivid Brazilian character, infused with an infectious festive spirit and light, playful virtuosity. The trio enjoys experimenting with rhythmic structures, placing classical themes into constantly shifting rhythmic contexts and thus opening new musical perspectives.
The Stark / Linnemann Trio’s successful crossover projects, in which classical masterpieces are transformed into compelling 21st-century musical forms, have earned wide recognition in both local and international press. Striking performances at prestigious festivals and venues such as Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw have firmly established the trio as a significant force on the global music scene.
