Sexuality, Self-Pleasure and the Fictional Body — Tamara Alegre: NX FUIMO

What happens when the body becomes fiction?

“NX FUIMO” is a choreographic spell and a journey through thresholds of alienation and resistance. It is a performance about the body, sexuality, erotic energy, self-pleasure and the connections between bodies.

The title of the work draws from the slang expression “nos fuimos” – “we left”, “we’re already gone”. Here, it becomes a passage into a fictional body where the usual rules of anatomy no longer apply. Tamara Alegre imagines a single channel connecting all the vital functions related to the lower abdomen and the cloaca – the part of the body from which erotic force emerges.

Individual dances gradually come together as a group, with movement becoming synchrony, cleansing and a space for mutual support. “NX FUIMO” is strongly inspired by Dancehall culture, with collective movement, mutual aid and the exploration of bodily boundaries at the centre of the work.

“NX FUIMO” was created by Tamara Alegre together with Élie Autin, Marga Alfeirão and Cuba. The approximately 50-minute work has already been presented in Lausanne, Norberg, Zurich, Stockholm and other European venues.

Tamara Alegre (she/they) works with dance and choreography. Their practice revolves around sensual embodiments, fictions on sexuality and sexual organs, and liminal physical states. Tamara holds an MA in Choreography from DOCH in Stockholm and is currently a resident artist at Arsenic in Lausanne.

KOMISAS is a curated art platform aiming to make buying art simple, engaging and accessible. Founded by artists as an alternative art fair, KOMISAS now connects physical events with a digital space, making it easier to discover and acquire artworks. “auksinė valanda” takes place November 6–15 at Tech Zity Vilnius, Panerių g. 43, and across different venues in Vilnius.
