Jazz Cellar 11 invites you to a jazz evening dedicated to honoring one of the most prominent figures of the genre – Hank Mobley. “Sax Colossus” is a concert series initiated by the club and its musicians, celebrating legendary jazz saxophonists. The term “saxophone colossus” originated with Sonny Rollins’ album of the same name, which became a milestone in jazz history. The club has already hosted sold-out tributes to J. Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins, and Dexter Gordon. This concert is a tribute to the life and music of the brilliant tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley.
Hank Mobley was a true master of melody, whose music combines technical virtuosity with profound emotional sensitivity. His compositions, infused with bluesy undertones and groovy rhythms, are a vivid example of the flourishing jazz era in America.
Whether you’re already a fan of Mobley’s music, just discovering his legacy, or even exploring jazz for the first time, this evening promises an unforgettable journey through the works of a true jazz legend.
