RYUICHI SAKAMOTO – POET OF SOUND / PIANIST DARIUS MAŽINTAS
Event information
On 11 December 2026 at 6:00 PM, at the Pranas Domšaitis Gallery in Klaipėda, music of extraordinary sensitivity will fill the space as the piano works of one of the most remarkable composers of our time, Ryuichi Sakamoto, come to life in the interpretation of pianist Darius Mažintas.
This special concert is dedicated to the memory of the musical genius who passed away several years ago – an artist whose music became poetry of sound and silence, a subtle dialogue between fragility and light.
Infused with Eastern aesthetics and a universal sense of beauty, Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music invites the listener on an inward journey. A breath of melancholy blends with luminous flashes of light – each note feels like a gentle touch upon the human soul, opening the door to its deepest emotions.
Darius Mažintas is an acclaimed Lithuanian pianist, recognised both in Lithuania and internationally, known for creating rare moments in which time seems to stand still. His interpretations combine tranquillity and deep concentration with passion and intellectual depth. His extensive international performing experience allows him to approach Sakamoto’s music with respect, sensitivity and artistic freedom.
The programme began its musical journey in Vilnius, where four performances of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music were completely sold out. It is now travelling across Lithuania, and on 11 December it will arrive in Klaipėda, where Sakamoto’s music will be performed in the unique surroundings of the Pranas Domšaitis Gallery – a place where music and visual art will meet for one special evening.
The evening of 11 December will be more than a concert. It will be an intimate encounter with music that invites us to pause, listen and remember what truly matters.
An evening not only for devoted music lovers, but for anyone searching for meaning, stillness and beauty.
