Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota: between Norway and Lithuania

The violist and composer Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota invites a concert meeting, during which you will have a rare opportunity to hear a unique, colorful and dreamy program for viola and voice, filled with the intonations of Norwegian and Lithuanian folk music.

The program includes works by Norwegian and Lithuanian composers, which were created especially for Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota and the artist's own romantic works.

Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota has been living in his wife's hometown in Norway, in the vicinity of the capital Oslo, for more than two decades. The chamber music projects initiated by Mr. Syrrist-Gelgota are distinguished by unconventional composition of ensembles and original interpretations of Lithuanian and Norwegian folk music, which the violist adds with his voice. No matter how diverse the repertoire is, in Povilas' opinion, it is important to perform music with quality.
