'Across Europe With Chamber Music' VU Chamber Orchestra Concert
Event information
Vilnius University (VU) Chamber Orchestra invites you to a special concert where European classical music traditions will intertwine with Spanish modernism. The orchestra will be conducted by a distinguished guest from Spain, Gabriel Delgado.
The concert program will feature a masterpiece of Spanish modernism, Joaquín Turina’s 'La Oración del Torero' (The Bullfighter’s Prayer), Op. 34, a piece distinguished by its emotional depth and dynamic Spanish musical spirit. The evening will continue with Leoš Janáček’s Suite for String Orchestra, a melodic and expressive work that embodies the rich musical traditions of the Czech Republic. The concert will conclude with Ottorino Respighi’s majestic Suite for Organ and Strings in G Major, where the powerful combination of the string orchestra and organ will create an awe-inspiring musical harmony. The organ part in this piece will be performed by the talented soloist and organist Živilė Survilaitė.
'By merging the professionalism of our chamber orchestra with the experience of Gabriel Delgado, a conductor who leads international programs, we achieve an exceptional result that, I believe, will be greatly appreciated by our audience. Throughout the concert, we will experience the warmth of Spanish modernism, the vitality of Czech tradition, and the grandeur of Respighi’s Italian style - all brought together by Delgado’s refined conducting. His performance adds subtlety, precision, and emotional depth, enriching every note. This is a concert where everyone can immerse themselves in the unique world of chamber music' - says Modestas Jankūnas, the artistic director of the VU Chamber Orchestra.

He studied at the prestigious Granados and Barcelona universities, mastering his conducting skills in Berlin. His repertoire spans both classical and contemporary music, with a particular focus on chamber music, where he combines technical precision with deep emotional nuances.
