On March 28th, the SEB Arena in Vilnius will host an event that no true tennis lover can afford to miss. Ričardas Berankis, the greatest Lithuanian tennis player of all time, will play the final match of his career on the arena's center court against the highly decorated Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
R. Berankis—the leader of the Lithuanian national tennis team, a long-time ATP Top 100 player, former world junior No. 1, and US Open junior champion—will step onto the court for one last time to thank his most loyal fans for their support. Over the course of his career, the Lithuanian has won an ATP doubles title in Houston and reached two ATP singles finals. Berankis achieved a career-high ATP ranking of No. 50 and represented the Lithuanian national team in the Davis Cup 62 times.
His opponent, the charismatic French tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, is a former world No. 5. Throughout his career, Tsonga won 18 ATP singles titles and reached the final of the Australian Open in 2008. In 2017, he led his national team to a Davis Cup crown. The Frenchman is one of a few tennis players in the world to have recorded victories against all members of the "Big Four"—Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray.
