The program “The Most Beautiful Film Music”, prepared by vocalist Eglė Vakarinaitė together with the string quartet Archi Quartett, invites audiences to a festive New Year’s Eve concert on December 31 at 4 PM at Tauragė Cultural Center.
The specially curated repertoire features music in a variety of styles – from romantic ballads to pieces infused with elements of jazz and rock.
All these works, recognized worldwide, share one common trait – they are unforgettable songs from some of the most beloved films. This unique ensemble, gathered especially for this program, creates a festive atmosphere and invites listeners to step for a moment into iconic movie scenes.
From Jurga’s aria in the Lithuanian classic The Devil’s Bride to Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You from The Bodyguard, from Lady Gaga’s Shallow to ABBA’s Thank You For the Music – this is modern-day musical classics brought to life. “Performing this music is pure joy,” say the musicians.
Eglė Vakarinaitė, a professional jazz vocalist and vocal coach, is the owner of a rich, memorable voice. She has performed in Latvia, Spain, and Portugal, collaborated with Lithuanian jazz legend Petras Vyšniauskas at the Expo in Zaragoza and the Kaunas Jazz festival, among many other events.
Her voice can also be heard in films and popular music projects – she has recorded songs with hip-hop group G & G Sindikatas, electronic music stars Happyendless, Sinstation, and others. She has appeared on the TV project Dainuoju Lietuvą, performed a successful concert series with the chamber ensemble Musica humana, and regularly appears at Lithuanian jazz festivals and clubs with her own group Jazz Between the Sheets. This year, she also performed with her new ensemble Jazz’strada at Lithuania’s national film awards ceremony Sidabrinė gervė (Silver Crane).
Archi Quartett has been a well-known presence on the Lithuanian music scene for over 18 years. Rooted in classical traditions, the quartet boldly explores other genres, from jazz to rock. From large-scale festivals to intimate chamber events, their music has been heard on countless Lithuanian stages. They collaborate with performers across genres – from opera soloists to popular music artists.
Quartet members Vitalija Makrickienė (violin), Ginta Kriščiūnaitė (violin), Mantas Makrickas (viola), and Mykolas Rutkauskas (cello) are laureates of national and international competitions, graduates of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and artists of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra.
This time, the concert will feature a truly rich sound, with eight professional musicians on stage: Archi Quartett and Eglė Vakarinaitė will be joined by pianist Simas Minkevičius, double bassist Dainius Rudvalis, and percussionist Almantas Puidokas.
“As the most beautiful holidays of the year approach, we invite you to immerse yourself in the colorful worlds of cinema and music,” say the musicians, eagerly awaiting their meeting with the Tauragė audience.
