MUSIC FOR FREEDOM. Darius Mažintas’ Recital
Event information
Performers:
DARIUS MAŽINTAS (piano)
Programme: Fryderyk Chopin Nocturnes, Valentin Silvestrov piano cycle "Naive Music", George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue"
Video projections from the concert in Irpin (Ukraine)
In April 2022, Looking at the Stars, a Canadian Charity Foundation initiated by philanthropist Dmitri Kanovich, organised Mažintas’ unique concert in Irpin, Ukraine, a city devastated by Russian aggressors. “Our mission is to restore hope and dignity to those who have lost it. To those who need it most and those who least expect it,” says Kanovich. And so, in tonight’s recital, the delicate piano lyricism of the Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin’s nocturnes and ballads symbolically expresses the aspiration for freedom.
