MUZIKA ERDVĖJE '23 | Amando | Pawel Sakowicz (Poland)
Event information
In Amando, Paweł Sakowicz uses pantomime, which conveys the content of the performance through gesture: a skilful mime lifts an invisible cup so that one has the impression that it is actually in his hand. Sakowicz builds and dissolves the meaning of gesture in his choreography, alternately stylising the dance and stripping it of style. He makes use of postmodern dance, which, although it says "no" to style and magic, at the same time defines lifting the same cup as dancing. The sound designed by Justyna Stasiowska suggests that raising the cup is different in the morning, in the evening, and still different when nobody is watching.

Site-specific Music Festival
MUZIKA ERDVĖJE ‘23 • Location Unknown
September 5–10 | Vilnius 700
This year, the festival invites to reflect on the places, communities, or processes that remain on the fringes or outskirts of Vilnius society and public life, thus concluding the cycle of themes dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the capital.
In the eleven works created by Lithuanian and foreign composers and artists from various fields, the audience will have the chance to catch a glimpse of the unadorned face of Vilnius. Unexpected locations, intriguing harmonies, unconventional approaches to experiencing music and space, and, most importantly, thought-provoking themes and discomforting contexts. This year's festival program fosters an intimate, open, and authentic conversation between you and Vilnius.
