After a six-year break, the female version of Leonard Cohen - Canadian Michelle Gurevich - returns to Vilnius.

"I will definitely come back to Vilnius," - promised Canadian singer Michelle Gurevich, who dazzles her fans with a combination of rich voice, romantic ballads and touching lyrics. It took six years before she appeared again on Vilnius stage. On March 22, 2023, the unique performer will present a new album at Vilnius St. Catherine's Church on stage.

Born in Canada, she began her career under the pseudonym Chinawoman. The talented girl's career began in the bedroom, where she recorded her first album "Party Girl" and chose the pseudonym Chinawoman. By the way, it was received very critically by music listeners, after several strong comments about the fact that there is nothing Chinese in it, Michelle decided to introduce herself on stage under her real name.

The singer has mentioned that there were many artists and musical people in her mother's family, but she was the first to write songs and create her own music. The girl grew up listening to records from her parents' collection, which included Soviet and 1960s European music.

Today, Michelle Gurevich lives in Copenhagen with her Danish wife and their daughter. Currently, while traveling around Europe, the artist presents her sixth album "Ecstasy in the Shadow of Ecstasy", she will come to Vilnius from Poland.

The new collection of songs is about the charm of life, romance, discovered and undiscovered roads. Decadent, dramatic and at the same time sincere, vintage harmonies of keys and synthesizers combine with unrecognizable motifs of European chanson in Michelle's voice. Her songs are tragicomic, melodious, sentimental, combining humor and the darkness of realism.

Although her concerts increasingly feature live music, she still composes her songs in her bedroom, thus maintaining intimacy and unity of expression from her bed to the audience. A special ovation for Michelle comes from the ethnic communities of Eastern Europe who live in Istanbul, Berlin, Warsaw, Athens and admire the melodramatic ballads of Charles Aznavour, Zeki Müren and Nikolai Slichenko.

The performer with a rich, shamanic voice is often compared to Canadian music legend Leonard Cohen. "What I create is quite sentimental. For some reason, sentimentality often has a negative connotation in people's minds, but I'm just always looking for sensitive points", said Michelle Gurevich, a music creator and performer who will return to Vilnius in the spring.
