Mallorca preludes: Live. Eglė Andrejevaitė
Event information
Mallorca Preludes: Live is a theatrical piano recital presenting the programme of pianist Eglė Andrejevaitė’s debut album Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes. In this unique programme, Frédéric Chopin’s Preludes are interwoven with works by contemporary Spanish composers, creating a unified musical narrative.
This is not a traditional piano recital. The music is complemented by narrative texts and a carefully crafted lighting design, allowing the audience to experience the programme as a continuous and emotionally cohesive artistic journey. The recital reveals a dialogue between two eras – Romanticism and the present day – in which Chopin’s music continues to inspire and resonate with composers of the 21st century.
"Among the multitude of existing versions, Eglė Andrejevaitė's recording stands out through its distinctive artistic concept."— Stefan Rütter, Deutschlandfunk
Following the international acclaim received by her debut album Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes and performances in Anykščiai, Paris, Brussels and Birštonas, Lithuanian pianist Eglė Andrejevaitė invites audiences to the closing concert of the international tour Mallorca Preludes: Live at St. Catherine’s Church in Vilnius.
At the heart of the programme lies one of the most celebrated works in piano literature – Frédéric Chopin’s Preludes, Op. 28 – presented alongside twelve contemporary Spanish preludes commissioned by the Valldemossa Chopin Festival. This original artistic concept creates a dialogue between the 19th and 21st centuries, bringing together Romantic tradition and contemporary musical thought.
Released by the international classical music label Challenge Records International, the album Reflections Op. 28: Mallorca Preludes has attracted the attention of critics and broadcasters across Europe, including national radio stations in Lithuania, Germany, France and Italy.
"Andrejevaitė demonstrates her deep admiration for the universe of the Polish composer, bringing it into a living and contemporary reality."— Rafael-Juan Poveda Jabonero, RITMO
The origins of the project can be traced back to the monastery of Valldemossa in Mallorca, where Chopin composed much of his legendary cycle of preludes. It was there that the discovery of the score collection 24 Preludis per a Frédéric Chopin inspired both the album and the concert programme now being presented to audiences across Europe.
The concert at St. Catherine’s Church marks the culmination of the international tour and a symbolic return to Vilnius – the city where the album was recorded and where its artistic vision was first developed.
