About performer
The program features works by three individuals of Litvak heritage: arrangements for violin and piano by Jascha Heifetz, one of the greatest violinists of all time, born in Vilnius; compositions by Joseph Achron, a violin prodigy and internationally recognized composer born in Lazdijai; and pieces for violin and piano by the famous Lithuanian composer Anatolijus Šenderovas, whose 5th death anniversary we commemorate this year. This interesting and colorful program of miniatures highlights the parallels between the performance art and lives of the legendary figures J. Heifetz and J. Achron, as well as the significance of A. Šenderovas’s work.
