LETS SING JUSTINAS MARCINKEVIČIUS
Vinyl Record Launch
On October 3rd at 6:00 PM, we invite you to a cosy and meaningful evening at the Panevėžys Musical Theatre, dedicated to one of Lithuania’s most prominent poets, Justinas Marcinkevičius. The concert will feature songs set to his verses - ranging from well-known audience favorites to rarely heard or entirely new compositions by Galina Savinienė, Giedrius Kuprevičius, Benjaminas Gorbulskis, Gintautas Tautkus, Laimis Vilkončius, and others.
For over two decades, we have consistently revisited the work of Justinas Marcinkevičius in our concerts; thus, this evening will be a journey not only through music but also through personal memories and reflections. We will share thoughts on the poet, the significance of his work and its place in our lives, and how his verses have matured within our hearts and on stage throughout our long-standing connection with the audience.
Singer Liudas Mikalauskas conveys J. Marcinkevičius’s poetry with exceptional sensitivity and poignancy, while pianist Beata Vingraitė shares a deep, lifelong bond with the poet’s work. This connection lends the concert a unique sense of sincerity and authenticity. To mark the fifteenth anniversary of the poet’s passing, we have released a vinyl record featuring songs composed exclusively to the lyrics of Justinas Marcinkevičius. During the concert, we will not only present this special release to Lithuanian audiences but also invite you to join us in hearing the poet’s words once again—words that continue to speak to us today about humanity, love, the homeland, and hope.
Featuring:
Liudas Mikalauskas (singer)
Beata Vingraitė (pianist)
