CHRISTOPHER FESTIVAL | VARY&BRUT DUO: RENDEZ VOUS À VILNIUS

Concert dedicated to mark the 25th anniversary of the L’Institut français de Lituanie

LUCIENNE RENAUDIN VARY (trumpet, France)
FÉLICIEN BRUT (accordion, France)

The French trumpet sensation and a passionate ambassador of the accordion! An extravagant combo to be sure, just perfect for an emotion-filled evening, enriched with Parisian charm, light musical flirtation and unexpected twists in the programme.

Lucienne Renaudin Vary has grown from a wunderkind of the trumpet into a Warner Classics artist, and is a recipient of the prestigious Opus Klassik award; the only woman to have won the Arthur Waser Prize, she is a phenomenal musician honoured by both classical music gourmands and jazz fans. It’s no suprise that one evening you might see her performing with the BBC Concert, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Philharmonia, Bonn Beethoven or other famous orchestras, on another – at Wynton Marsalis’ opening concert for the Jazz in Marciac festival, and the third – in projects alongside Barbara Pravi or Gautier Capuçon.

Félicien Brut is a winner of prestigious accordion competitions (including the Kilngenthal, Castelfidardo and World Championships for Accordion), and is dedicated to popularising his instrument. Thus, he pays a lot of attention to atypical collaborations and to the development of an original repertoire. Félicien’s driving force is his love for the accordion and Paris.

This amazing duet of French virtuosos will tango you to jazz-infused New York, then to France, taking in Parisian waltzes and a couple of miracles by Richard Galliano.

Programme features Georges Bizet, Leonard Bernstein, Rafael Mendes, Astor Piazzolla and Richard Galliano
