Klasika visiems 2025
Event information
As the most festive time of the year approaches, Vilnius University Culture Centre invites Vilnius residents and guests of the capital to the grand pre-Christmas concert “Classics for Everyone 2025,” which will take place on December 20 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Church in Vilnius.
Now in its thirteenth season, the project continues a cherished tradition of bringing together hundreds of choristers and enthusiasts of classical music and singing into one united choir.
This year, alongside the Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra (artistic director Modestas Jankūnas) and the three university choirs – “Gaudeamus,” “Pro musica,” and “Virgo” (artistic director Rasa Gelgotienė) – the program will feature two exceptional works marking significant anniversaries in the world of music:
✨ M. K. Čiurlionis – “Sanctus”: a piece created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth. This is the first a cappella composition ever performed in the history of the “Classics for Everyone” project.
✨ Camille Saint-Saëns – “Christmas Oratorio” (Oratorio de Noël): composed 160 years ago, this work was previously performed by “Classics for Everyone” participants in 2018. It now returns in a renewed interpretation, celebrating the composer’s 190th birth anniversary.
The grandeur of these works will be brought to life by renowned Lithuanian soloists:
Gunta Gelgotė, Nora Petročenko, Juozas Janužas, Dainius Puišys, and “Pro Musica” choir soloists Vita Rimienė and Julija Snežko.
“Classics for Everyone 2025” will be conducted by Rasa Gelgotienė, the artistic director of Vilnius University choirs and the founder of the project.
“Classics for Everyone” is an open cultural initiative that unites people of diverse professions, ages, and experiences – professionals and amateurs, students and alumni – because the language of music is universal.
We invite you to become part of this shared musical experience.
