Kjetil Mulelid is a Norwegian pianist distinguished as an inventive artist, blending jazz, psalms, and improvised music in both his playing and compositions. With a desire to tell a story in every musical phrase, he treats each song like a blank canvas and "paints" with melodies and natural rhythmic strokes in playful music.

After graduating from the renowned Trondheim Conservatory in 2014, he has actively toured various parts of the world with his music and projects. He has performed concerts in most of Europe and Japan and has released several highly acclaimed albums.

Throughout the years, Mulelid has played and collaborated with numerous outstanding musicians such as Arve Henriksen, Jason Moran, Barry Guy, Trygve Seim, Mats Eilertsen, Audun Kleive, Kirsti Huke, Ola Kvernberg, Eirik Hegdal, Sissel Vera Pettersen, Rob Waring, and Petter Vågan.

The trio, featuring musicians involved in some of Norway’s most exciting jazz bands like Norwegian Grammy winner Hegge, the nominated Megalodon Collective, Wako, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, performs modern acoustic jazz, with their music being a blend of Mulelid's compositions and pure collective improvisation.

Kjetil Mulelid Trio's debut album was released in late 2017 on Norway’s prestigious Rune Grammofon label, known for the best of Scandinavian experimental electronic, jazz, and improvised music. Since the release of their first album, the trio has established itself as some of Norway’s foremost jazz musicians, with an active concert schedule across much of Europe. Their second acclaimed album, “What You Thought Was Home”, was released in August 2019 on the same label. Mulelid's compositions expertly balance energetic, rhythmically complex, and harmonically rich music with beautiful, evocative melodies. At JazzCellar11, the trio will present music from their third album.
