About performer

On November 19th, Tuesday, at 12:00 PM and 6:30 PM, the Klaipėda Concert Hall will host “Karlsson’s School.” This is truly an unusual phenomenon—a school within a concert hall! This colorful educational program for children aged 5 to 11 is organized by the Klaipėda Brass Quintet.

In Stockholm, Sweden, on the roof of an apartment building, behind a chimney, there stands a small house. Inside lives a “handsome, clever, and well-built fellow in the prime of his life” named Karlsson. He is the character from the books written by Astrid Lindgren, who lived nearby and likely met him on her walks.

This mischievous character, who refuses to grow up, loves to have fun. With him, there’s never a dull moment, as his head is always full of various ideas. Now, he has decided to learn how to play the trumpet. And not just the trumpet, but all brass wind instruments at once! Not only will he learn himself, but he will also teach others!

How he manages to achieve his plans will be revealed when you visit “Karlsson’s School.” You will meet not only Karlsson, but also the Klaipėda Brass Quintet. Led by Sigitas Petrulis, who plays the trumpet, the quintet also features Tadas Česnauskas on trumpet, Monika Miliauskienė on French horn, Arvydas Stakvilevičius skillfully handling the trombone, and Vidmantas Liasis on the tuba, the largest instrument in the quintet.

The program is directed by Nerijus Gedminas, who also plays the role of the school principal. It promises to be a fun musical event full of surprises and antics.

Dear children, moms, and dads! It doesn’t matter if you can’t play the trumpet or trombone yet. Come along, bring everyone who knows Karlsson and those who haven’t heard of him yet, including adults!
