Event information Event

The movement and drama performance "Blue Ashes" is inspired by the story of the Dutch watchmaker Corrie ten Bom, who thanks to this story became a famous writer and influencer of the time. At first glance, this woman's life should have been no different from others... However, fate gave this woman great trials - during the Second World War, while her family was rescuing Jews from the Holocaust, she had to pay the highest price - imprisonment in a concentration camp. After going through a particularly difficult time, this author wrote the autobiographical book "The Hiding Place", which received worldwide recognition - the book was translated into more than 20 languages and became classics of religious literature of the 20th century, the book has also been adapted to the screen several times.

Based on this living Corrie story, with the central theme of unconditional faith in God's love, director and choreographer Laura Gerashchenko creates a two-part movement-drama performance for teenagers and adults. This is a live performance based on an autobiographical story, during which important questions are raised: how to overcome the pain of separation; be content with what you have; how to survive in the face of danger; how God can use weakness; how to deal with difficult people; how to face death with courage; how to love your enemies; what to do when evil wins; how to forgive everyone.

The main theme of the play is a believer in the face of death, and the idea of the play - faith gives freedom, unfortunately remains relevant even today. In the context of the Ukrainian-Israeli wars, culture and art must provide a counterweight to the sad information from the fronts, giving us all hope and faith, uplifting and teaching us to love and look for beauty, not to give in to evil.
This performance of movement and drama is an important cultural and historical project that reflects the realities of the Second World War and the Holocaust, connecting them to modern conflicts. The show aims to evoke deep feelings and encourage existential debates about endurance, faith and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. "Blue Ashes" is a powerful bridge between artistic expression and historical lessons, promoting empathy and understanding between different generations.
