SEEK | Chordos String Quartet
Event information
The award-winning string quartet "Chordos", laureates of the Government's Prize for Culture and Art, proudly presents the third program in their concert series "Three Sides of You"—titled "SEEK."
While previous concerts in the series invited audiences to reflect on their connections with others and focus inward, the final performance—woven with musical threads from both past and upcoming years—encourages not only seeking but also discovering a passion for life, a creative drive to act, and a purposeful path toward achieving personal goals.
As in earlier performances, this evening will feature works by some of the most significant 20th-century Western music composers and their string quartets—seminal pieces that are essential to hear at least once.
The "Searching" program will be further enriched by the unique venue of the National Gallery of Art, blending seamlessly with David Goldblatt’s photography exhibition "(In)Visible Structures". This fusion of music and visual art amplifies the concert's message of openness to the world: our possibilities are limitless. By believing in what we do and dedicating the necessary effort, we can achieve results beyond expectations. The secret lies in the power of creativity to transform reality and societies.

About performer
For over 25 years, the award-winning string quartet "Chordos", laureates of the Government's Prize for Culture and Art, has been actively performing and fulfilling its mission: to promote and popularize contemporary Lithuanian composers’ music both in Lithuania and internationally, as well as to present the latest and finest works by foreign composers to Lithuanian audiences. Recognized this year with the Government’s Award for Culture and Art, the quartet continues to excel in its artistic endeavors.
The Chordos 2024 season, themed “The Individual and the Collective,” invites listeners to reflect inward while seeking meaningful connections with those around them and the broader world. At its core, this season centers on all of us—those in search of tranquility, challenges, passion for life, or purpose—constantly navigating the balance between internal and external forces, between focusing on oneself and others. These themes set the tone for the new 2025 season, emphasizing openness to the world and opportunities for unexpected conversations.
