Greta Grinevičiūtė / Arts and Science Lab (MMLAB) (Lithuania) – DANCE FOR A CIGARETTE AND A BEST FRIEND
Event information
The performance features nudity, recommended age range 16+
“Dance for a Cigarette and a Best Friend” analyses friendship. The bond between best friends, which is not based on blood ties or romantic partnerships, often becomes one of the longest lasting relationships in a person’s life. Friendship witnesses the breakdown or formation of other relationships, influences the formation of the other’s personality and inspires inner changes. We move away and come closer, we touch and go into distance. We are naked, vulnerable, sometimes jealous, but always stay in touch.
“Dance for a Cigarette and a Best Friend” is fourth work of choreographer Greta Grinevičiūtė from the series on a concrete or abstract object and a family member/friend and his idea or memory.
Greta Grinevičiūtė is a performer, dancer, theatre and film actress, choreographer, one of the main creators of MMLAB, co-founder of the independent contemporary dance art organisation “Be Company”, PhD student, lecturer, dance filmmaker. Greta Grinevičiūtė’s individual work mostly addresses intimacy and fragility: using the details of her own biography, Greta analyses human relationships, and more specifically, her own relationships with her loved ones in her works.
