French and American Sonatas
Event information
Event
Clarinetist Rimvydas Savickas and pianist Marija Mirovska present chamber music programme of 20th century French and American music. The Town Hall Concert Hall will host the well-known sonatas by F. Poulenc and C. Saint-Saens, together with a rarely performed opus by L. Bernstein. A special work of the evening at the Town Hall is Aaron Copland's Sonata, which was first written for violin and piano duet, but later arranged by the composer himself for clarinet and piano. The programme French and American Sonatas reveals the subtle and multi-faceted beauty of the clarinet-piano duo. In the works on this programme, the styles of past epochs interact with each other in the music of the twentieth century, from the romantic echoes in the sonata of C. Saint-Saëns to the neo-baroque and folkloric sounds in the sonata by A. Copland.
