Donatas Petreikis – Where I Belong – Album Release Concert
Event information
An international quartet led by saxophonist and composer Donatas Petreikis will fill the Naujoji Vilnia Culture Centre with a powerful, swinging sound. The quartet’s debut album One Way has gathered nearly a million streams on Spotify, and now the group is reuniting to bring this music back to the stage and present a new programme, Where I Belong.
The quartet features outstanding jazz musicians from Denmark and Estonia: Carl Winther on piano, one of Denmark’s best-known jazz pianists; Anders Mogensen on drums, who has worked with artists such as Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Berg, Joel Frahm, Peter Bernstein and others; and Heikko Remmel on double bass, one of the most active and in-demand bassists in Estonia and Europe.
The concert will present D. Petreikis’s latest album, Where I Belong, a direct sequel to One Way, born from travels, experiences and constant movement. Although the first album attracted a wide audience, in the new programme the music unfolds in a more personal and deeper way. It weaves together a range of experiences, but the strongest theme is the longing for home, not only as a physical place but as the search for an inner state. It is music about returning to where you truly belong.
