Event information Event

For the festival's finale, composer and electronic music performer Jonas Jurkūnas, known under his solo project pseudonym Robotik Folk, invites us to take a somewhat ironic look at a potential dystopian future. Many years after the end of our era, robots rediscover and repurpose remnants of human musical heritage (along with their operational memory found in the ruins). Sung by local synthetic programs, a new robot folklore emerges spontaneously, recalling the history of our music-making ancestors.

GLOBAL ISSUES

As the world stands on the brink of the widespread dominance of artificial intelligence, which may reshape societal structures, with scientists warning that we are nearing the "red line" beyond which the damage to the climate will be irreversible, with the global population surpassing 8 billion, and the Doomsday Clock ticking closer to midnight, it is clear that global challenges could alter our future and everyday lives at any moment. This year's Music Autumn festival, from an anthropological perspective, explores issues that are relevant to the entire world or specific regions. How do we see, respond to, and understand these threats and the future of humanity? And why, despite being aware of the magnitude of these dangers, are we unable to unite to save the world?

About performer

The "Robotic Folk" project by Jonas Jurkūnas naturally evolved from the ideology of the DIISSC Orchestra and the Electronic Music Trio (EMT): "In the pauses between composing acoustic or applied music, I often sit down to experiment with electronic sounds. What feels too personal or doesn’t fit into collective music-making always goes into a separate folder. Over time, a large amount of experimental electronic music has accumulated, ranging from digital reinterpretations of guitar sounds to hints of club music."
