Swiss pianist Francois-Xavier Poizat, praised by Martha Argerich for his “remarkable lyricism and impressive virtuosity,” presents a captivating program titled “Dedications” at the Alanta Music Festival. The concert features works that composers wrote in tribute to their fellow musicians and artistic inspirations.
A special focus is given to French composer Maurice Ravel, as 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of his birth. The program includes his dedications to Emmanuel Chabrier, François Couperin, and Alexander Borodin.
The audience will also hear Federico Mompou’s Variations on a Theme of Chopin – a delicate reflection on Chopin’s music, enriched by Mompou’s improvisatory spirit and harmonic language.
In the concert’s final part, pianist Francois-Xavier is joined by Lithuanian violinist Dalia Simaška to perform Juozas Gruodis’s Chopin-style miniature and the beloved Violin Sonata by Francis Poulenc.
