RYUICHI SAKAMOTO – THE POET OF SOUND PIANIST DARIUS MAŽINTAS

On October 21, 2026, at 7:00 PM, the Kaunas State Philharmonic will resonate with music of extraordinary sensitivity as piano works by one of the most influential composers of our time, Ryuichi Sakamoto, come to life in the interpretation of pianist Darius Mažintas.

This special concert is a tribute to the genius who left us a few years ago - a creator whose music became poetry of silence and sound, a subtle dialogue between fragility and light.

Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music, infused with Eastern aesthetics and universal beauty, invites listeners on an inner journey. Within his compositions, a breath of melancholy intertwines with glimmers of light - each note like a gentle touch upon the human soul, opening deep emotional spaces and filling them with meaning.

Pianist Darius Mažintas, recognized both in Lithuania and internationally, is an artist capable of creating moments where time seems to stand still. His interpretations embody serenity and inner focus, while also breathing passion and intellectual depth. His experience on international stages allows him to present Sakamoto’s music with profound respect, sensitivity, and creative freedom.

This concert in Kaunas is particularly special as it marks the first time the program travels beyond Vilnius, where four consecutive performances dedicated to Sakamoto were completely sold out. With this event, we are delighted to bring this exceptional musical experience to the music lovers of Kaunas, offering them the opportunity to encounter this remarkable program live in the inspiring space of the Philharmonic Hall.

The evening of October 21 will be more than a concert - it will be a heartfelt meeting with music that invites us to pause, to listen, and to remember what truly matters. It is a gift not only for music connoisseurs, but for anyone seeking meaning, silence, and beauty.

October 21, 7:00 PM - Kaunas State Philharmonic.
